Help us fight hunger in our community, while promoting local restaurants. GiftAMeal is a mobile application that helps provide a meal to someone in need each time a user takes a photo of their dine-in or takeout from a partner restaurant. Featured in Forbes, Entrepreneur Magazine, the Wall Street Journal, and more, GiftAMeal has over 275 partner restaurants and has provided over 780,000 meals to those in need.


We are seeking a part-time Business Development Intern to work directly under the Chief Growth Officer. The intern will learn and apply sales skills to grow the number of restaurants in GiftAMeal's program.


  • Conduct research on Chicago restaurants that may be a good fit for our program

  • Call, email, go door-to-door, and Instagram DM (from GiftAMeal's account) Chicago restaurants to see if they are open to talking with our team about our program

Flexible Hours:

  • Spring 2021 (January - May)

  • 10-15 hours per week (between 9:30am-11am or 2pm-4:45pm when restaurants are not busy)

  • Working remotely

  • Weekly 20 minute virtual check-ins with the Chief Growth Officer



  • $10/hour

  • PLUS $10/meeting set up with a restaurant​

Required Qualifications:

  • Incredibly self-motivated

  • Self-starter who takes initiative

  • Detail-oriented

  • Highly organized

  • Resourceful and proactive

  • Comfortable with calling restaurants to set up meetings

How does GiftAMeal work?

GiftAMeal helps provide a meal to someone in need every time a user takes a picture at a partner restaurant. Restaurants pay a monthly fee of $49-$149 per month be on the app. With each photo taken on the app, GiftAMeal donates 11-33 cents to a local food bank, a cost set by the food bank that funds the distribution of 1 meal (1.2 pounds of meat, produce, and canned goods) to a neighborhood pantry where those in need can access the food. That distribution cost includes the refrigeration, transportation, and labor costs for getting the food to those that need it.
