Two STL Organizations "Sync" Up to Support Local Restaurants

Giving back never tasted so good! Sync Payments has teamed up with the hunger-fighting startup GiftAMeal to provide support to St. Louis restaurants.

Sync Payments provides payment processing and restaurant point of sale solutions that makes it easier and more cost-effective for restaurants to operate. Based in St. Louis, Missouri, Sync supports over 2,500 customers nationwide. During the pandemic, Sync’s team focused its attention on the changing landscape of the restaurant industry and brainstormed strategies to best assist local restaurants. This brainstorm led them to a partnership with GiftAMeal. The premise of GiftAMeal is simple: guests simply take photos of their food or drink from partner restaurants, and for each photo taken, a donation is made to Operation Food Search to provide a meal to a neighbor in need. If a photo is shared on social media, another donation is made. 290 restaurants currently participate, 45,000 people are on the app, and over 780,000 meals have been provided to those in need in Missouri.

Debbie Brasher, VP Sales and founder of Sync’s POS division, explained: “We have been following GiftAMeal’s efforts for quite some time now. When thinking about how Sync can give back to our customers and community, reaching out to GiftAMeal was a no brainer. Specializing in restaurant POS technology, we not only wanted to help feed those in need, but offer our assistance to restaurants, and spread awareness about the benefits GiftAMeal offers”. “With GiftAMeal, we wanted to create a win for the restaurants and a win for the community,” noted GiftAMeal’s Founder & CEO Andrew Glantz. As part of the partnership, Sync will cover a restaurant’s GiftAMeal membership fees for a year if they switch to Sync in addition to providing them with a free terminal (which can normally costs $695).

Nick Thuston, President of Sync Payments summed it up nicely, “Our partnership will bring local restaurateurs solutions that will grow their businesses while feeding the hungry in our community”.
