“My daughter is 15. The food program really, really helped us. Her grades have gone sky high. We’re in a good place now - we have a house and food and now we’re going to give back.

Nathaniel

“Before I got my own place, I was having trouble finding somewhere to eat. I have a daughter now, she just turned one. Everybody is supporting me and I love the support - that makes me feel like I’m going to be a good father.”

Geraldine

“I didn’t realize that people were hungry until I stopped working and retired. You never think that you would end up on food stamps. I never thought it. Even though it’s rough, I’m still blessed.”

Lakeview Pantry has three food distribution programs that deliver more than 1.6 million pounds of food each year. It also offers social services that help clients achieve independence.

"Most people don't know that 1 in 9 people on the North Side of Chicago suffer from hunger and struggle with poverty. We are very grateful to GiftAMeal for aiding in the fight to end hunger and helping to feed Chicago's hungry."

Detroit
Forgotten Harvest rescued over 45 million pounds of food last year by collecting surplus prepared and perishable food from 800 sources (grocery stores, fruit and vegetable markets, restaurants, caterers, dairies, farmers, wholesale food distributors).

“The importance of the food provided as a result of your generosity should not be underestimated… As metro Detroit’s only food rescue organization, Forgotten Harvest is an important source of nutritious food for those who turn to local feeding programs.”

A Message from GiftAMeal's Founder

"The hunger problem is widespread and can affect anyone. With GiftAMeal, we aim to bring our communities together by providing a simple way for people to assist neighbors who lack access to healthy food. It is our hope that increasing community engagement in the fight against hunger will both provide more food for people in need and reduce the stigma associated with food insecurity. The donations GiftAMeal makes to partner food banks not only facilitate distribution of food to local pantries, but also open up funding for nutrition education, policy advocacy, and other programming. Ending food insecurity requires more than just donations; it requires a compassionate, educated community willing to support one another."
